These terms govern your use of heard.dev, the Heard macOS client when used with the hosted proxy, and any paid plans offered by Heard Labs, Inc. ("Heard", "we"). By creating an account or paying for a plan, you accept them.
The Heard daemon source code is licensed separately under Apache 2.0. Using the source code without our hosted proxy is governed by that license, not by these terms.
Service
Heard is a macOS voice companion that narrates AI coding agents. We operate a text to speech proxy and a small set of account services around it. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
Account
- One account per email. You are responsible for keeping your sign in email and any installed token secure.
- You may sign in on more than one Mac. Each active device has its own session, and you can review or revoke connected devices from your account.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service, attempt to extract our upstream API keys, or violate applicable law.
Plans and payment
- Current plans and prices are listed at heard.dev/#pricing. Prices may change with at least 30 days notice for active subscriptions.
- Paid plans are recurring subscriptions billed via Stripe, either monthly or annually depending on the plan you choose. Your card is charged when you subscribe and automatically at the start of each renewal period until you cancel.
- Changes between paid tiers or billing intervals take effect immediately. Stripe creates a prorated charge or credit for the difference, which may appear on your next invoice.
- You can cancel at any time from your billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep your plan features until then.
- Fees are non refundable except where required by law or where Stripe applies a prorated credit for a plan change. Annual plans are paid upfront. Where local consumer law grants a withdrawal or cooling off right, we honor it.
- Hosted plans have character limits that reset at UTC midnight. Limits vary by plan. Hitting a hosted limit returns a 429 until the next reset; bring your own key and local narration are governed by the provider or local setup you choose.
- Prices are exclusive of any applicable taxes, which are added at checkout where required.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or otherwise attempt to extract the upstream API keys we proxy.
- Resell access to the proxy, rebrand it as your own service, or use it as the backend for a competing product.
- Send synth requests for unlawful, harassing, fraudulent, or abusive content.
- Circumvent daily character caps via multiple accounts.
Open source
The Heard daemon source code at github.com/heardlabs/heard is Apache 2.0. You may run, modify, and redistribute it under that license. These terms only apply when you use the hosted services we provide on top of that code.
Intellectual property
The Heard name, logo, and marketing materials on heard.dev are ours. The source code is governed by its open source license. You retain everything you create with the service. We claim no rights over the text or audio that flows through it.
Disclaimer and liability
The service is provided as is without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Heard's aggregate liability for any claim arising from these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
Termination
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time by emailing [email protected]. We may terminate accounts that violate these terms with notice to the email on file.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top will reflect the latest revision. Material changes are emailed to active accounts before taking effect. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Disputes are heard in the state and federal courts located in San Francisco County, California.
