The short answer
Claude Code and Codex are narrated. Cloud agents report through one connector.
Heard receives structured events from Claude Code, Codex CLI and the Codex app and narrates them. Cloud agents report through an MCP connector. Cursor, GitHub Copilot CLI, Gemini CLI and other local agents show their sessions and approvals in Heard without narration. The open source engine adds a heard run wrapper for other command line tools. Terminal apps such as cmux and Ghostty host the session but are not treated as coding agents.
This distinction matters because structured events provide more reliable decisions, tool states, and final results than generic terminal output.

Five support levels, one honest vocabulary
Native means Heard receives agent events directly and narrates them. Connector means a cloud agent reports to Heard over MCP. Status means Heard shows the agent’s sessions and approvals but does not narrate them. Wrapper means the open source engine reads a terminal process it launches with heard run. Host means a supported agent can run inside that terminal.
Test questions and final results before going eyes off
Start with a short task that uses a tool, asks for a decision, and reaches a final response. Verify each event arrives in Heard. This gives you a useful integration check without waiting for a long run to expose a gap.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Which coding agents have first class Heard support?
Claude Code, Codex CLI and the Codex app run native Heard hooks and are narrated as they work. Cloud agents such as Grok Bot, Meta Muse, Devin and Manus report by voice through one MCP connector.
What does universal wrapper support mean?
The open source heard run command starts another terminal process under a pseudo terminal and captures output for narration. It can work with many command line tools, but it is not equivalent to a dedicated event adapter.
Does Heard work in cmux or Ghostty?
Yes, when a supported coding agent runs inside them. cmux and Ghostty are terminal hosts, so Heard follows the agent integration rather than integrating with the terminal as an agent.
Does Heard support Cursor?
Partly. Connect Cursor in Settings → Connections and Heard shows Cursor sessions and approval requests. Cursor’s agents can report by voice through the MCP connector. Automatic narration of every Cursor turn is not available today.
Can Heard narrate cloud agents like Grok Bot or Meta Muse?
Yes. Add one remote MCP server, https://api.heard.dev/v1/mcp/agent, to the agent in Settings → Connections → Cloud agents, and its reports are spoken on your Mac, named after the agent. On Heard Power you can talk back by starting with its name.
Which operating systems are supported?
Heard is available on macOS 14 or later. Heard Power lets you pair your iPhone with the Heard companion app. Windows and Android support are not available today.
How do I request another integration?
Open an issue in the Heard GitHub repository or contact Heard support with the tool name, how it exposes events, and the workflow you want Heard to narrate.
